Perhaps you can't find an EVO, or you're like me and HAD an EVO, got the horrible 2.2 OTA Upgrade from Sprint and now have a phone that is buggy - They did a relatively good job with the update, I mean no disrespect to their work - But refusing to let customers downgrade who have legitimate reasons have frustrated me tremendously.
I loved my EVO, they ruined it for me, and I've sold it to a relative.
There are basically two tutorails being written for now:
- How to replace a EVO with a "TMO" (my play on letters). T Mobile has a HD2, it's (IMHO) a complete flop. The phone is absolutely beautiful, but Windows Mobile 7.0 needs to be on the phone. The phones I found on sale for a reasonable price.
- How to use a Touch Pro (slide out keyboard) for Android - This I've already done and will post details later.
I want to be clear - I, like many others, only did a small piece of the work - Getting this phones to do what YOU want is technically quite challenging and a LOT of brains work on these efforts to bring everything together - At this point beyond just "playing" with kernels I'll be using other peoples hard work on kernels - In the future if a need arises we may build a kernel - however today there are already enough options I feel so instead I'll write a "cook book" for our customers (or potential customers) :-)
